Blockchain and Korea: Attending Chain Plus+ Summit
South Korea is truly “crypto crazy” and is rightfully considered to be one of the most crypto oriented countries in the world at the moment.
One of the surveys conducted after the crypto hype has now shown that three out of every ten salaried workers in Korea had invested in cryptocurrencies. Other studies show that approximately 30% of South Koreans salary workers have crypto assets(link in Korean). To put things into perspective, a recent study in the U.S. estimated that only 8% of the population had invested in a cryptocurrency, which makes South Korea a country with arguably the highest crypto saturation.
This is why it should be no surprise that Korea was our next destination on a list of places the team attends to network, establish connections and seek further partnerships. A Chain Plus+ Blockchain Convergence Summit that took place in Seoul in South Korea provided us with this very chance.
More than a chain
The Chain Plus conference took place in Seoul Korea on January 23–24th, 2019. According to a statement on their website, the main reasoning behind Chain Plus is to: “to introduce blockchain technologies and projects that will be deeply embedded in people’s lives, introduce the applications of blockchain technologies that would lead to societal change, and create a heated debate about the impact that blockchain (or the technology, more so) would have on the real world and the economy.”
The conference itself was awesome. Turns the naming of the even was quite descriptive, with 1500+ attendees, 70+ projects and 80+ speakers. January turned up to be a month that was filled with various expos, for example, an iFX Expo was held in Hong Kong approximately at the same time (with one day difference to be exact).
